Men’s Cross Country Takes 17th Place at NCAA Regionals

Portland, ME --- The WPI Men's Cross Country team raced to a 17th place finish for the second straight year at the NCAA Regionals held at Southern Maine on Saturday.  Senior Dan Duffty (Haverhill, MA) led the Engineers in 60th place, finishing the 8000 meter course in 26:46.0. Williams was the overall meet winner, taking first out of 48 teams.

Peter Brown (Andover, MA) followed up Duffty as the second-highest finisher for the Engineers, traversing the course in 27:01.0 for 77th place. Chris Gabrielson (Westford, MA) finished 117th in 27:34.5, while Mario Christiner (Zurich, Switzerland) was 135th in 27:58.2.

Rounding out the WPI competitors were Lane Thornton (Richmond, VT) in 157th (28:19.1), Shane Ruddy (Seneca Falls, NY) in 162nd (28:24.4) and Todd Alexander (Foxboro, MA) in 168th (28:27.4).
