Lincoln, RI --- WPI's Lane Thornton (Richmond, VT) paced all runners with a time of 27:48, while nine members of the Men's Cross Country team crossed the finish line in the top 10 to win the Tri-States Invitational hosted by CCRI on Saturday. WPI scored 18 points, followed by Clark (59), Worcester State (72) and CCRI (100).
Scott Burger (Huntington Station, NY) finished second overall (28:05) as Shane Ruddy (Seneca Falls, NY) posted a third overall time of 28:09. Rounding out the top five for the Engineers was Dominic Gonzalez (Lowell, MA) who ran a fourth place time of 28:24.
Lucas Smith-Horn (Ellington, CT) crossed the finish line sixth (28:48), as Todd Alexander (Foxboro, MA) finished a fraction of a second behind his teammate. Dan Ritchie (Pepperell, MA) shored up the WPI top seven with an eighth place finish at 28:54.
A pair of runners finished out of the scoring but were in the overall top 10. Brian Goodman (Colonie, NY) crossed the finish line in ninth at 29:00, while Mitch Giroux (Dighton, MA) completed his 10th place showing at 29:05.
Men's Cross Country heads to Franklin Park for the All-New England Meet on Saturday for a 10am start.
