Boston, MA --- Senior Lane Thornton (Richmond, VT) bested all WPI runners for a 181st place finish out of 318 runners from all NCAA divisions and led the Crimson and Gray to a 42nd place team finish Saturday afternoon at Franklin Park in Boston as part of the neicaaa All-New England Meet. Dartmouth finished first, while Boston University took second and Central Connecticut placed third.
Thornton turned in a 26:54 time as the only Engineer to crack the top 200. Sophomore Scott Burger (Huntington Station, NY) came in 211th with a time of 27:12. Sophomore Shane Ruddy (Seneca Falls, NY) posted a 265th place showing at 28:04, as first year runner Dominic Gonzales (Lowell, MA) followed in 268th (28:09).
Sophomore Jeremy Francisco (Dartmouth, MA) crossed the finish line in 271st (28:13). Rounding out the top seven were juniors Lucas Smith-Horn (Ellington, CT) and Craig Mitchell (Hanson, MA) who completed their races in 278th (28:34) and 281st (28:41).
Men's Cross Country entertains alumni for a meet next Saturday and will return to competition October 30th when they travel to Moore State Park in Paxton for the NEWMAC Championships.
