Boston, MA --- MIT paced the field with six runners in the top ten to win the Engineers Cup for the ninth year in a row. Rensselaer and host WPI were represented by two each in a sunny Saturday afternoon at the Engineers Cup in Franklin Park.
MIT runners Katherine Eve (Fremont, CA) and Katie Gordon (Clinton, WA) finished first (18:39) and second overall (19:41). Lauren Allen (Willoughby, OH) (20:02), Sarah Sprague (Marengo, IL) (20:13), Chandler Burfield (Naples, FL) (20:26), Maggie Lloyd Sacremento, CA) (20:36) placed fourth through seventh. Casey O’Brien (Crofton, MD) (20:45) finished 12th.
Marie Ferro (Endwell, NY) led the Rensselaer squad in 9th (20:37), while Kathryn Markowitz (Macungie, PA) and Danielle Cohen (Cranston, RI) crossed the finish line in 10th (20:38) and 11th (20:38). The next pack came in 13th through 15th spot as Anna Sheridan (20:54), Meredith Mayes (21:00), and Ariel Mingrone (Shelton, CT) (21:02) completed their race. Stephanie Polak finished the scoring with an 18th (22:31) place showing.
WPI runner Vickey Hewey (Sanford, ME) had a third place (19:55) effort, and Jennifer Mann (Chelmsford, MA) crossed the line eighth (20:37) to lead the meet hosts. Stacey Rauen (San Gabriel, CA) and Hannah McCallum (Lafayette, CO) posted 16th (21:16) and 17th place (21:19) finishes. Catherine Duffty (Haverhill, MA) and Caitlin Rush (Nashua, NH) were the next pair of Boynton Hillers to complete their races in 19th (22:40) and 20th (22:43) . Rounding out the WPI scoring was Kelsey Thomas (Webster, NY) in 22nd (23:21) place.
WPI races next Saturday when they compete at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational at 10:30am. MIT will make the same trip to UMass-Dartmouth. Rensselaer runs Friday when the travel to the Oneonta Pre Regional.
