North Dartmouth, MA --- The WPI women's cross-country team finished ninth at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday. The result bested last year's 16th place performance in 2010.
Vicky Hewey (Sanford, ME) led WPI, coming in eleventh with a time of 18:57.43.
Amy Babeu (Groveland, MA) came in 55th with a time of 20:06.91. She was followed by Maria Grandoni (Framingham, MA - 69th/20:20.54), Hannah McCallum (Lafayette, CO - 73th/20:22.56), Caitlin Rush (Nashua, NH - 87th/20:31.15), Mary Schwartz (Quincy, MA - 95th/20:34.82), Emily Dudley (Woburn, MA - 114th/20:51.48) and Jessica McKniff (Duxbury, MA - 115th/20:51.81).
MIT won the event, while Brooke Johnson (Shoreham, N.Y.) of MIT came in first overall with a time of 17:54.35.
WPI is back in action next Saturday when they compete at the annual Worcester City Meet hosted by Worcester State at 10:30am.
