Gonzalez Leads Men's Cross Country at NEWMAC Championships

Boston, MA --- Sophomore Dominic Gonzalez (Lowell, MA) turned in a 23rd place finish to pace the WPI Men's Cross Country to a fifth place showing at Monday's NEWMAC Championships hosted by Wellesley at Boston's historic Franklin Park.  MIT took home its 14th consecutive crown and was highlighted by individual race winner Dan Harper (Naperville, IL). 

Gonzalez navigated the course in a time of 27:21 as he posed the best WPI time for the fourth time this season.  Andrew Zayac (Plymouth, MA) and Lucas Smith-Horn (Ellington, CT) finished back-to-back in 26th (27:37) and 27th (27:40) place respectively.  Shane Ruddy (Seneca Falls, NY) crossed the line in 27:50 to grab 32nd place. 

Other WPI top finishers included Scott Burger (Huntington Station, NY) in 39th place (28:10), Josh Brodin (Mansfield, MA) in 42nd (28:18) and Brendan McKeogh (Leicester, MA) in 47th (28:26). 

After a weekend off, the Engineers are back in action on Saturday, November 12th at the NCAA New England regionals at Bowdoin.
