Womans Cross Country Takes Home 12th place at Connecticut College Invitational

New London, CT --- Vicky Hewey (Sanford, ME) raced to a team-best 28th place finish to help WPI women's cross country to a 12th place showing at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday morning. The Engineers totaled 330 points and finished 12 points ahead of NEWMAC rival Springfield. Tufts won the meet with 54 points while Bridgewater State's Molly Rouillard (21:44) took home the individual title.

Hewey navigated the 6k course in 22:58 and has now been WPI's top placer in all five of its races this season. Julie Tevenan (Weymouth, MA) continued her impressive freshman campaign, crossing the line in 41st place (23:19).

Hannah McCallum (Lafayette, CO) turned in a 93rd place showing, completing the course in 24:22 while rookie Jessica Orr (Westerly, RI) collected a 106th place finish 15 seconds later (24:37).

Haley Dyer (Danvers, MA was the Crimson and Gray's fifth finisher clocking a time of 25:28 to take home 147th place. She was followed by Caitlin Walde (Edmonds, WA) in 155nd place (25:35) and Stephanie Lindow (Medford, WI) in 209th (28:01).

WPI is off until Saturday, October 27th when they participate in the NEWMAC Championships hosted by Smith. The first gun sounds at 11am.
