Hewey Shines as Women’s Cross Country Places Sixth at NEWMAC Championships

Northampton, MA --- WPI women's cross country combined to finish sixth overall totaling 155 points at the NEWMAC Championships at Smith College. MIT was the overall meet winner with 15 points, followed by Wellesley in second with 74 points.

Senior Vicky Hewey (Sanford, ME) earned her third all NEWMAC selection finishing first for the Engineers placing 11th (19:08.28) overall. Julie Tevenan (Weymouth, MA) finished second for WPI placing 27th (19:42.32) overall. Hannah McCallum (Lafayette, CO) crossed the line in 48th (20:19.97) while Maria Grandoni (Framingham, MA) was 54th (20:39.24) and Jessica Orr (Westerly, RI) in 75th in a time of  21:12.01.

Rounding out the top seven for the Crimson and Gray were Caitlin Walde (Edmonds, WA) (21:40.36) and Haley Dyer (Danvers, MA) (21:44.64) in 88th and 92nd respectively.

The Engineers will be off next weekend before participating in the NCAA New England Regionals hosted by Westfield State on Saturday November 10th at 11am.
