Men's Cross Country Earns Program Best Third Place Finish at NEWMACs

Northampton, MA --- Sophomore Ryan Moran (Pembroke, MA) was named to the NEWMAC all-conference team after helping WPI finish in third place at the conference Men's Cross Country Championships on Saturday afternoon. The third place finish for the Engineers was there best ever finish for the program since the conference was formed. Moran navigated the course in a time of 26:16.02 which was good enough for sixth place in a field that featured 94 runners.

Senior Jeremy Francisco (Dartmouth, MA) came in 20th with a time of 27:05.92 while sophomore Andrew Zayac (Plymouth, MA) finished just behind in 21st place crossing the finish line in 27:06.79.

Junior Robert Hollinger (Averill Park, NY) crossed the line in 26 th place in a time of 27:30.42, while Senior Scott Burger (Huntington Station, NY, 27:32.81) and Sophomore Patrick Murphy (Danvers, MA, 27:37.88) finished in 28th and 30th respectively. Junior Dominic Gonzalez (Lowell, MA, 28:32) rounded out the top seven with a 34th place finish in the 8k event.

The Engineers will be off next week and will be back in action on November 10th when they compete in the NCAA regionals at Westfield state beginning at 11am.
