Hewey Concludes Brilliant Women's Cross Country Career at NCAA Regionals

Westfield, MA --- WPI women's cross country ran to a 18th place finish at the NCAA Regionals hosted by Westfield State on Saturday.  MIT was the overall meet winner, leading 51 scoring teams.  The Crimson and Gray improved 10 spots over last year's 28th place showing in the season-ending event.    

Senior Vicky Hewey (Sanford, ME) wrapped up an impressive career with the Engineers, pacing the WPI runners with her time of 22:53.77 and a 56th place finish out of 367 runners. Freshman Julie Tevenan (Weymouth, MA) finishing in 66th, with a time of 23:02.25 while junior Hannah McCallum (Lafayette, CO) placed 113th (23:55.74). 

Sophomore classmates Maria Grandoni (Framingham, MA) and Caitlin Walde (Edmonds, WA) were the next two runners to finish the course finishing in 145th (24:30.13) and 191st (25:22.90) respectively. 

Freshmen Haley Dyer (Danvers, MA) and Jessica Orr (Westerly, RI) rounded out the field for WPI in the season finale, crossing the line in 201st (25:39.51) and 212th (25:49.70) place.
