Northampton, MA --- Sophomore Julie Tevenan (Weymouth, MA) and rookie Liz Hansen (Richmond, RI) finished in the top 10 as WPI Women's Cross Country posted a fourth place result at the Smith Invitational on Saturday. Amherst won the team crown with 36 points as Wellesley (49) and Coast Guard (91) finished second and third. WPI posted 93 points and was followed by host Smith (144).
Tevenan paced WPI with an eighth-place 20:07.75 and Hansen turned in a 20:12.77 to claim the 10th spot. Junior Maria Grandoni (Framingham, MA) checked in 25th (20.47.07) as senior Hannah McCallum (Boulder, CO) was three runners behind in 28th (20:51.49). Senior Amy Babeu (Groveland, MA) clocked a 20:57.30 and crossed the finish line 32nd. Sophomores Haley Dyer (Danvers, MA) (39th, 21:08.44) and Jessica Orr (Westerly, RI) (41st, 21:09.30) rounded out the Engineer top seven.
WPI returns to action on Saturday, September 21 when the team heads to Southern Maine.
