Gorham, ME --- The WPI Women's Cross Country team placed ninth at the Southern Maine Invitational on Saturday morning. The Engineers posted 229 points while NEWMAC-foes MIT won the meet with 52 points and Wellesley finished sixth (175).
Sophomore Julie Tevenan (Weymouth, MA) paced the Engineers for the second consecutive meet as she finished 29th in a time of 18:56.61. Freshman Liz Hansen (Richmond, RI) clocked a 19:11.76, good for 36th, while junior Maria Grandoni (Framingham, MA) crossed the finish line 62nd (19:46.34). Senior Hannah McCallum (Boulder, CO) turned in a 68th-place 19:55.27.
Senior Amy Babeu (Groveland, MA) finished 87th (20:12.02) and graduate student Noelle Richard (Oxford, MA) cracked the top seven with a 95th-place 20:16.27. Sophomore Haley Dyer (Danvers, MA) was the final point-producer with a 20:28.39 (104th).
WPI looks to capture its sixth straight Worcester City Meet crown on Saturday at 10:30am.
