Women's Cross Country Claims Sixth Straight Worcester City Crown

Paxton, MA --- Sophomore Julie Tevenan (Weymouth, MA) became the third WPI Women's Cross Country runner in the last six years to win the Worcester City Meet while the squad captured their sixth-consecutive title on Saturday at Moore State Park. She joins Vicky Hewey '13 who won the past four city meets and Megan Woods '09 who struck gold in 2008. Senior Hannah McCallum (Boulder, CO), who finished fourth, was presented with the Brian Savilonis award, given to the top overall senior in honor of the long-time WPI head coach.

Tevenan broke the tape with a time of 19:46.47 and was followed by freshman Liz Hansen (Richmond, RI) in second (19:58.66). McCallum was fourth (20:22.33) while graduate student Noelle Richard (Oxford, MA) and sophomore Haley Dyer (Danvers, MA) finished seventh (20:48.52) and eighth (20:49.70), respectively. Rookie Gabriela Meza (Wilmington, CA) (21st - 22:39.05) and junior Steph Lindow (Medford, WI) (49th - 25:31.25) broke into the WPI top seven.

The Engineers take a week off before heading to Boston for the All-New England Championships at Franklin Park on Saturday, October 12.
