Boston, MA --- The WPI women's cross country team placed 34th overall and 11th among Division III schools at the All-New England Championships at Franklin Park on Saturday. Division I New Hampshire won the event with 57 points while Middlebury paced Division III with 192 points. The Engineers, meanwhile, posted 933 points.
Sophomore Julie Tevenan (Weymouth, MA) cracked the top 100 with a 91st-place time of 19:01. Freshman Liz Hansen (Richmond, RI) followed in 175th (19:50) and was trailed by junior Maria Grandoni (Framingham, MA) who turned in a 20:27 for 214th place. Senior Hannah McCallum (Boulder, CO) crossed the finish line 221st (20:33) while graduate student Noelle Richard (Oxford, MA) (20:46) and sophomore Haley Dyer (Danvers, MA) (20:47) were one second apart in 232nd and 233rd place with times of 20:46 and 20:47, respectively. Senior Amy Babeu (Groveland, MA) completed her race 251st (21:11) to round out the WPI finishers.
The Engineers head to the Connecticut College Invitational next Saturday for the final tune-up before the NEWMAC Championships.
