Women’s Cross Country Places Sixth at NEWMAC Championships

Boston, MA --- Sophomore Julie Tevenan (Weymouth, MA) turned in an All-NEWMAC performance as WPI placed sixth at the NEWMAC Women's Cross Country Championship hosted by Babson at Franklin Park on Sunday. MIT won the team title with 23 points as Wellesley was second (70) and Coast Guard was third (99). The Engineers finished with 142 points.

Tevenan crossed the finish line 12th with a time of 19:04.77 to earn her first All-NEWMAC nod. ­Freshman Liz Hansen (Richmond, RI) was the next WPI harrier to finish as she clocked a time of 19:50.76 for 33rd as junior Maria Grandoni (Framingham, MA) followed in 37th (19:58.07).

Sophomore Haley Dyer (Danvers, MA) (47th, 20:11.39) and senior Hannah McCallum (Boulder, CO) (50th, 20:17.39) cracked the top-50 as senior Amy Babeu (Groveland, MA) came home 53rd (20:20.70). Graduate student Noelle Richard (Oxford, MA) shored up the Engineer point producers with a 65th-place 20:51.99.

The Engineers head to Colt State Park in Bristol, RI on Saturday for the ECAC Division III Cross Country Championship meet hosted by Roger Williams.
