Gorham, ME --- The WPI men's cross country team turned in a program-best 11th place finish at the NCAA Division III New England Regionals hosted by Southern Maine on Saturday. Williams collected the team title with 77 points while the Engineers (362) finished 76 points shy of the program's first-ever top-10 showing in the regional since the format began in 1982. The Crimson and Gray's previous best was a 12th place finish in 2001.
Senior Robert Hollinger (Averill Park, NY) capped his career with a 46th-place time of 25:52.18. Junior Ryan Moran (Pembroke, MA) raced to a 54th-place time of 25:59.29 and classmate Andrew Zayac (Plymouth, MA) was 67th (26:10.72).
Freshman Austin Scott (Waddington, NY) was the final Engineer to crack the top-100 as he crossed the finish line 88th (26:29.58). Junior Patrick Murphy (Danvers, MA) clocked a 26:55.03 for 107th place and rookie Nathan Stomberg (West Greenwich, RI) was 137th (27:18.75) in the final meet of the 2013 campaign.
