Northampton, MA --- Led by Julie Tevenan (Weymouth, MA) with a fifth place showing, the WPI women's cross country team finished seventh at the Smith College Invitational on Saturday morning. The Engineers accumulated 146 points while Amherst (42), Connecticut College (84) and Wellesley (100) came home 1-2-3.
Tevenan completed the 5K in a time of 19:58.50. She was followed by Emily Newman (Easton, MA) in eighth (20:04.60). Haley Dyer (Danvers, MA) finished 44th (21:57.00) and Caitlin Walde (Edmonds, WA) cracked the top-50 with a 47th-place (22:02.20). Lea Strangio (Watertown, MA) made her debut with a 56th-place time of 22:20.10 while Liz Hansen (Richmond, RI) was 62nd (22:31.10) and Maria Grandoni (Framingham, MA) shored up the WPI seven in 71st place (22:48.50).
The Engineers are idle until the squad travels to UMass Dartmouth on September 20th.
