Williamstown, MA --- Nine members of the WPI men's cross country team finished in the top 15 as the team claimed the Plansky Invitational title on Saturday. WPI was efficient in its scoring, amassing only 25 points as host Williams followed with 41.
Sophomore Austin Scott (Waddington, NY) edged out senior Ryan Moran (Pembroke, MA) as the duo finished 1-2 with an identical time of 16:48. Freshman Justin Trott (North Hampton, NH) and classmate Jason Bugarin (Fitchburg, MA) were fifth (17:09) and sixth (17:12) as senior Andrew Zayac (Plymouth, MA), freshman Tristam Winship (Bedford, NH) and sophomore Nathan Stomberg (West Greenwich, RI) placed 11th (17:36), 12th (17:27) and 13th (17:27). Additionally, junior Tobin Dancy (Shrewsbury, MA) and senior Joe Kelly (Brooklyn Park, MN) were the 14th and 15th collegiate runners to cross the finish line.
WPI heads to Smith on Saturday for the NEWMAC Cross Country Championships. The men's race is scheduled to get underway at 11am.
