Brunswick, ME --- Paced by top 10 finishes from Julie Tevenan (Weymouth, MA), Steffany Halfrey (Hubbardston, MA), Lea Strangio (Watertown, MA), Jessica Orr (Westerly, RI) and Jasmine Higuera (Riverside, CA), the WPI women's cross country team placed second at the Bowdoin Invitational on Saturday.
The hosts won the meet with 25 points while the Engineers were five points behind. Maine-Farmington was third (91) and Lyndon State (110) rounded out the field.
Tevenan was the runner up with a time of 19:31. Halfrey debuted with a fourth-place 19:37.3 as Strangio turned in a 19:52.7 for sixth. Orr posted an eighth-place 20:03 while Higuera claimed 10th with a time of 20:09.1. Newcomers Carly Neeld (Williston, VT) and Lauren Farry (Pittsfield, MA) crossed the finish line 11th (20:12.9) and 13th ( 20:16.9), respectively.
The Engineers return to action on Saturday, September 26 at the Worcester City Meet at Moore State Park in Paxton.
