Waterford, CT --- Junior Austin Scott (Waddington, NY) placed sixth to lead the WPI men's cross country team to a fourth place finish at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday at Harkness Memorial State Park. It is the same course that will be utilized for the NCAA Division III New England Regionals on November 14.
No. 12 MIT won the meet with 49 points followed by the hosts, who are currently receiving votes in the regional poll, with 95 and Carleton (MI) with 106. The Engineers, who were ninth in this week's regional rankings, finished ahead of SUNY Oneonta (fifth, 157), which is eighth in its region, and No. 24 Tufts who came home 11th with 269 points.
Scott posted a time of 25:18 as graduate student Ryan Moran (Pembroke, MA) crossed the finish line 11th in a time of 25:36.7. Freshman Michael Brady (Medway, MA) was 27th in just over 26 minutes (26:00.9) while sophomore Justin Trott (North Hampton, NH) was three spots behind in 30th (26:04.5). Junior Nathan Stomberg (West Greenwich, RI) collected 37th-place points with a time of 26:19.4 as senior Tobin Dancy (Shrewsbury, MA) was 42nd overall (26:21.4) and sophomore Tristam Winship (Bedford, NH) finished 61st in a time of 26:39.7.
The Engineers are off until the NEWMAC Championships, hosted by Wellesley, on Sunday, November 1 at Franklin Park.
