Williamstown, MA --- Freshman Carly Neeld (Williston, VT) helped lead the WPI women's cross country team to a 16th-place showing at the ECAC Division III Championships, hosted by Williams, Saturday at Mount Greylock High School.
Tufts claimed the team title with 45 points while the Engineers, who were nine places and 253 points better than last year's event at Westfield State, posted 484.
Neeld crossed the finish line 62nd with a time of 24:58.8 while classmate Lauren Farry (Pittsfield, MA) came home 76th (25:17.3). Sophomore Maggie LaRoche (Madison, NH) was the only other Engineer to claim a top 100 spot with a 90th-place 25:39.8.
Sophomore Gina Capobianco (Colonie, NY) clocked a 26:21.8 (130th) as junior Julia Smith (Cranston, RI) posted a 141st-place 26:31.4. Shoring up the Crimson and Gray lineup were sophomore Emma MacIntyre (Grand Island, NY) and freshman Megan Concannon (Hanson, MA) who finished 196th (28:10.3) and 206th (28:29.1), respectively.
The Engineers head back to Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, CT for the NCAA Division III New England Regionals on Saturday.
