Boston, MA --- The WPI men's cross country team placed 16th overall and fourth amongst Division III opponents at the NEICAAA All-New England Championships Saturday at Franklin Park.
Northeastern earned gold with 102 point as regional No. 8 Brown earned silver (113) and national No. 5 MIT took home bronze (133). No. 8 Amherst was seventh (194), followed by Bowdoin in 14th (337) and regional No. 9 WPI in 16th (412).
Senior Austin Scott (Waddington, NY) once again led the Engineers as he crossed the finish line 31st (25:31.2). Junior Justin Trott (North Hampton, NH) and sophomore Michael Brady (Medway, MA) also placed in the top 100 with the 84th- and 89th-place times of 26:15.8 and 26:20.6, respectively.
Freshman Tom Hanlon (Derry, NH) clocked a 26:34.9 in his first postseason race and junior Jason Bugarin (Fitchburg, MA) was two spots behind with a 26:36.6. Freshman Avery Ingegneri (Warwick, RI) also made his postseason debut with a time of 26:52.2 while junior Tristam Winship (Bedford, NH) handed in a 27:08.4.
WPI looks to rebound next week at the Connecticut College Invitational (Harkness State Park).
