Scott, Brady and Winship Shine in Men's Cross Country's Second-Place Finish at NEWMACs

Northampton, MA --- Senior Austin Scott (Waddington, NY), sophomore Michael Brady (Medway, MA) and junior Tristam Winship (Bedford, NH) earned All-Conference accolades as WPI finished second at the NEWMAC Cross Country Championships Saturday at Smith.

MIT continued its reign with 19 points. WPI tallied 55 while Babson accumulated 96 and Coast Guard posted 112. Springfield led the second half of the field with 116 with Emerson in sixth (201), Clark in seventh (205) and Wheaton in eighth (235).

Scott earned his third consecutive All-Conference nod as he crossed the finish line fifth (25:56) while the next six Engineers claimed 11th through 16th-place points. The grouping was led by Brady, a repeat honoree, with a time of 26:18 and Winship in a time of 26:22. Both Scott and Brady improved upon their seventh and 14th-place finishes in last year's title race at Franklin Park.

Freshman Avery Ingegneri (Warwick, RI) clocked a 26:24 as junior Jason Bugarin (Fitchburg, MA) was nine seconds behind (26:33) and junior Justin Trott (North Hampton, NH) posted a time of 26:39. Freshman Tom Hanlon (Derry, NH) trailed Trott by a second (26:40).

WPI heads to Westfield State Saturday, November 12 for the Division III New England Regionals.
