Women's Cross Country 18th at NCAA DIII New England Championships

Westfield, MA --- Led by All-New England junior Jasmine Higuera Castillo (Riverside, CA), WPI finished 18th at the NCAA Division III New England Cross Country Regional Saturday at Stanley Park.

MIT needed only 68 points to secure the team crown while the Crimson and Gray accumulated 606.

Higuera Castillo, who finished 27th in a time of 22:06.20, will learn tomorrow afternoon if she is selected to participate in the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships being held this year in Louisville, KY.  Sophomore Steffany Halfrey (Hubbardston, MA) was the next Boynton Hiller to cross the finish line with a 23:35.13, good for 118th.

Freshman Callie Schadt (Brewster, MA) was 129th (23:45.88) as senior Liz Hansen (Richmond, RI) handed in a 23:47.71 to place 134th. Sophomore Carly Neeld (Williston, VT) was just outside the top 200 with a 24:45.46. Juniors Gina Capobianco (Colonie, NY) and Emma MacIntyre (Grand Island, NY) claimed 225th (25:07.48) and 226th place (25:07.61), respectively.
