Westfield, MA --- Senior Austin Scott (Waddington, NY) repeated as an All-New England performer and the WPI men's cross country team once again placed a program-best 10th at the NCAA Division III New England Championships Saturday at Stanley Park.
Familiar foe MIT edged Williams based on tiebreakers for the team title while the Crimson and Gray, bolstered by seven top 100 finishes, bettered their point total at the event by seven with 288.
Scott, who finished 20th in a time of 25:16.23, is poised to make a return trip to the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships being held next week in Louisville, KY. The official announcement is slated for 1pm Sunday afternoon.
Junior Justin Trott (North Hampton, NH) was 55th (25:50..78) as sophomore Michael Brady (Medway, MA) came home 59th (25:54.34) and junior Tristam Winship (Bedford, NH) clocked a 75th-place 26:06.29. Freshman Avery Ingegneri (Warwick, RI) ended up 79th (26:09.69). Junior Jason Bugarin (Fitchburg, MA) posted a 26:17.57, good for 94th and senior Nathan Stomberg (West Greenwich, RI) was comfortably in the top 100 with a 98th-place 26:20.84.
