Westwood, MA --- Sophomore Sydney Packard (Georgetown, MA) has been named as the NEWMAC Women's Cross Country Co-Runner of the Week. She shares the accolade with Springfield junior Kristen Madeia (Berlin, CT).

Packard placed fifth at the Bates Super XC Shootout, which included No. 11 Tufts, No. 25 Bates and Wellesley, with a time of 18:49.2. The performance was the track & field All-American's cross country debut.

It is the second weekly accolade for the sophomore as she claimed NEWMAC Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week laurels on April 18.

The women's cross country team will be split on Saturday with the top of the lineup heading to the Purple Valley Invitational, hosted by Williams at Mount Greylock High School. The remainder of the squad will be tasked with competing for a record 12th Worcester City Meet title at Moore State Park in Paxton.
