Women’s Cross Country Fifth in Division III as USTFCCCA Doles Out Academic Accolades
February 14, 2019New Orleans, LA --- The WPI women’s cross country program tied for fifth in Division III and eighth across all three NCAA divisions with a 3.78 GPA as both squads were named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Teams. Additionally five women and four men were recognized for their efforts at the NCAA Division III New England Championships and in the classroom. -

Year in Review: Women's Cross Country Earns Record 12th Worcester City Championship
December 27, 2018Paxton, MA --- Junior Sydney Packard (Georgetown, MA) won the Worcester City Meet in convincing fashion as the WPI women's cross country program collected its record 12th title, including three of the last four, Saturday at Moore State Park. Two-time defending champion Mia Rogers (North Dighton, MA) from Worcester State took home the Brian Savilonis Award. -

Women’s Cross Country Sets, Ties Program Records at NCAA DIII NE Championships
November 10, 2018Brunswick, ME --- Junior Sydney Packard (Georgetown, MA) finished 45th to lead the WPI women’s cross country team to its second consecutive 10th-place finish at the NCAA Division III New England Championships Saturday at Bowdoin. The Engineers also placed a program-best 10th in 1989 while the 2018 team set the program record for fewest points with 301. -
72 WPI Fall Student-Athletes Earn NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Honors
November 08, 2018Westwood, MA --- Led by seven three-time honorees, WPI placed 72 fall student-athletes on their respective NEWMAC Academic All-Conference teams. Football led the department with 21 selections while Volleyball boasted a NEWMAC-best nine. Men’s Soccer boasted 11, followed by Women’s Soccer (9) and Field Hockey (8). Women’s Cross Country once again tied its program record with eight and Men’s Cross Country produced six. -
Chabot Repeats as NEWMAC Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year
November 01, 2018Westwood, MA --- For the second time in as many seasons WPI head coach Brian Chabot has been named as the NEWMAC Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year, as voted upon by his peers following Saturday’s conference championship meet. In addition to both programs touting a quartet of All-NEWMAC honorees, seniors Steffany Halfrey (Hubbardston, MA) and Mark Landergan (Newburyport, MA) were selected as the NEWMAC All-Sportsmanship Team representatives. -
Four Named All-Conference as Men's Cross Country Finishes Second at NEWMACs
October 27, 2018Northampton, MA --- Freshman Brian Brooks (Brewster, MA), senior Michael Brady (Medway, MA), junior Avery Ingegneri (Warwick, RI) and junior Tom Hanlon (Derry, NH) each earned All-NEWMAC honors as the WPI men’s cross country team placed second at Saturday's NEWMAC Championships, hosted this year by Smith. -

September 22, 2018Williamstown, MA --- Junior Sydney Packard (Georgetown, MA) was sixth overall, and fourth amongst NEWMAC runners, to pace the WPI women’s cross country team in a ninth-place showing at the Purple Valley Classic, hosted by Williams at Mount Greylock High School. -

Junior Jake Scarponi (Barrington, NH) was the individual champion while senior Michael Brady (Medway, MA) earned the Brian Savilonis Award. -
