Westwood, MA --- WPI senior Michael Brady (Medway, MA) and junior Sydney Packard (Georgetown, MA) swept NEWMAC Cross Country Athlete of the Week accolades for their performances at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational. Packard was also named as the WPI Women's Student-Athlete of the Week.
Brady, who guided WPI to a second-place team finish, was one of two NEWMAC student-athletes in the top 10. His eighth-place time of 25:16.3 was over two seconds quicker than the next conference harrier. Of the 41 teams across all three divisions, only Division II Southern New Hampshire amassed a lower score.
Packard then led WPI to a fourth-place team finish with a second-place time of 18:14.7 in the women's 5K. In all, the race featured 45 scoring teams with at least one representative from each NCAA division.
The Engineers head to Williamtown, MA Saturday for the Purple Valley Classic.
