Northampton, MA --- Freshman Brian Brooks (Brewster, MA), senior Michael Brady (Medway, MA), junior Avery Ingegneri (Warwick, RI) and junior Tom Hanlon (Derry, NH) each earned All-NEWMAC honors as the WPI men's cross country team placed second at Saturday's NEWMAC Championships, hosted this year by Smith.
No. 14 MIT extended its string of team titles with 17 points while WPI, the eighth-ranked team in the USTFCCCA New England poll, was the runner up for the fifth consecutive season, this time with 52 points. Coast Guard was third (84) followed by Springfield (134) and Babson (137). Wheaton (138), Clark (229) and Emerson (252) rounded out the field.
Brooks denied MIT's bid for a perfect score with a fourth-place 26:28. Brady, meanwhile, earned his third career nod with an eighth-place 26:56 and Ingeneri received recognition for the second straight season with a 12th-place 27:11. Hanlon was close behind in 13th (27:12).
Sophomore Logan Gaudette (Holden, MA) was one spot and eight seconds shy of an All-Conference showing. Junior Jake Scarponi (Barrington, NH) was 18th overall with a time of 27:26 while senior Matt Rabasco (Pittsfield, MA) was just outside the top 20 with a 21st-place 27:36.
The Crimson and Gray head to Bowdoin for the NCAA Division III New England Championships on Saturday, November 10.
