Amherst, MA --- Keely Nistler (Vadnais Heights, MN) guided the WPI women's cross country team to a fifth-place showing at the UMass Minutemen Invitational on Saturday. The 5K, which touted four Division I teams, was run at the UMass Cross Country Course.
Boston College, who is receiving votes in the USTFCCCA national poll, won the event with a perfect 15 points. Regional No. 14 Connecticut was second (54), followed by the hosts (77), Sacred Heart (108) and Division III Regional No. 8 WPI (153).
Nistler was the lone Engineer to post a sub-20 minute time with a 39th-place 19:39. Charlotte Kokernak (Niskayuna, NY), Grace Hadley (North Reading, MA) and Callie Schadt (Brewster, MA) were separated by three spots and four seconds as they were 45th (20:03), 46th (20:05) and 47th (20:07), respectively. Kaelyn Foss (Thomaston, CT) and Mary Scrivanich (Old Tappan, NJ) came home 53rd (20:27) and 54th (20:28) while Kaylee Gladu (Woonsocket, RI) was 56th (20:58).
The Engineers head to UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, September 21.
