Dartmouth, MA --- Sydney Packard (Georgetown, MA) finished 12th to pace WPI as the women's cross country team placed third at the 47th annual UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday. Keely Nistler (Vadnais Heights, MN) chipped in with a 20th-place showing for the Boynton Hillers.
Division I Holy Cross won the title with 83 points, followed by Mount Holyoke (92) and WPI (129), the 10th ranked team in the USTFCCCA regional coaches poll. Assumption (246) was sixth while Brandeis (376), the eighth team in the regional ranking, was 13th.
Packard posted an 18:50.75 in her season debut and Nistler crossed the finish line in 19:09.66. Charlotte Kokernak (Niskayuna, NY) was the third Engineer across in a 30th-place time of 19:20.87. Ari Rozen (Carver, MA) and Callie Schadt (Brewster, MA) were separated by a runner as they were 36th (19:33.96) and 38th (19:36.50), respectively. Kaelyn Foss (Thomaston, CT) took 46th (19:45.38) as Mary Scrivanich (Old Tappan, NJ) claimed 62nd (20:06.65).
WPI returns to competition on October 5 at the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh.
