Dartmouth, MA --- David Reynolds (Andover, NH) was third out of 257 runners as the WPI men's cross country team won the 47th annual UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday. Avery Ingegneri (Warwick, RI) also posted a top 10 finish for the Engineers.
Ranked seventh in the USTFCCCA regional coaches poll, the Crimson and Gray posted 61 points. Division I UMass Lowell was second (83) followed by Trinity (88), who is 10th in the same rankings, Division II Franklin Pierce (115) and Southern Maine (146). The 36-team field also featured Assumption (6th – 201) and Holy Cross (17th – 543).
Reynolds handed in a time of 25:10.80 while Ingegneri was 10th in a time of 25:38.17. Ryan Weeks (Cantonsville, MD) took 13th (25:43.45) as Brian Brooks (Brewster, MA) was 15th (25:44.16) and Logan Gaudette (Holden, MA) was 20th (25:58.36). Jake Scarponi (Barrington, NH) was next across the line in 22nd (26:01.78) and Tom Hanlon (Derry, NH) came home 27th (26:13.92).
The Engineers are back in action on October 5 at the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh.
