Waterford, CT --- Sydney Packard (Georgetown, MA) was 35th and the WPI women's cross country team placed 16th at the 6K Connecticut College Invitational, which featured a number of nationally-ranked teams and eight of the top teams in New England, Saturday at Harkness Memorial State Park.
No. 7 MIT led all teams with 75 points. No. 5 Williams (103) was second, followed by No. 4 Tufts (121), No. 12 Carleton (126), No. 14 RPI (204), No. 18 Middlebury (216), No. 34 Vassar (267), No. 20 Rochester (282), No. 29 Wesleyan (320) and Brandeis (333).
Also ahead of WPI was New England No. 10 Amherst (337), Atlantic No. 6 St. Lawrence (346), Atlantic No. 6 Ithaca (355), Atlantic No. 9 SUNY New Paltz (385) and Colby (388). Trailing the Crimson and Gray (397) were Mideast No. 5 Messiah (412), New England No. 9 Wellesley (19th - 459), South/Southeast No. 8 Christopher Newport (20th - 501) and No. 31 Coast Guard (26th - 865), who also sent a contingent to the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle.
Packard produced a time of 22:27.6 while Keely Nistler (Vadnais Heights, MN) was 75th (23:06.9) and Ari Rozen (Carver, MA) was 79th (23:09.9). Grace Hadley (North Reading, MA) crossed the finish line in 104th (23:24.1), followed by Callie Schadt (Brewster, MA) in 151st (23:58.4), Charlotte Kokernak (Niskayuna, NY) in 153rd (23:59.7), and Kaylee Gladu (Woonsocket, RI) in 196th (24:37.8).
The Engineers return to Franklin Park on Sunday, November 3rd for the 2019 NEWMAC Championships.
