WORCESTER --- WPI Wrestling senior Tanner Thatcher (Blairstown, NJ) was named to the 2024-25 All-New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Honorable Mention Team, while 22 members of the Crimson and Gray were recognized on the NEWA All-Academic Team, as announced recently.
Thatcher, a four-year contributor to the Crimson and Gray, closed out his career with All-NEWA Honorable Mention honors after another strong campaign on the mat. His performance added to a decorated WPI resume that includes prior NEWA academic accolades and consistent success in the upper weights.
The Engineers were well-represented academically, with 22 grapplers earning spots on the NEWA All-Academic Team, which recognizes student-athletes who have met rigorous academic and competitive criteria.
The senior class featured honorees Tanner Thatcher, Ethan Edmondson (Milford, CT), Ryan Hsu (Norwood, MA), and Nicolas LeSieur (Walnut Creek, CA). Juniors on the list included Trevor Bowen (Frenchtown, NJ), Joey Baisley (Charlotte, NC), Joseph Bernard (Stratham, NH), and Jerry Hill (Bethel, CT).
Representing the sophomore class were Charlie Pavis (Bethlehem, PA), Connell Paxton (Kensington, MD), Ethan Wilson (Braintree, MA), Mason Basara (Bethlehem, PA), Mike Gorman (Plainville, MA), Logan Jacques (Hudson, NH), Ezekiel Kasen (Brookline, MA), Gavin Luciano (Norton, MA), John McKenzie (San Anselmo, CA), Michael McNulty (Manasquan, NJ), Sam Rodrigues (Lincoln, RI), Bud West (Concord, MA), Jackson Willi (Delmar, NY), and John-Michael Economo (Staten Island, NY).
