WORCESTER -- WPI women's soccer standout
Jess English (Ledyard, CT) has been selected to the 2025 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Women's Scholar All-East Region Third Team, as announced by the coach's association. English was one of just 15 student-athletes recognized across the region's third team and one of only four defenders selected.
A junior captain and mechanical engineering major, English adds the regional academic accolade to an already distinguished career on and off the field. She previously earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors in 2025 and is a two-time Academic All-NEWMAC selection. English owns a 3.58 cumulative GPA while balancing a demanding engineering curriculum and leadership responsibilities within the program.
On the field, English anchored a WPI defense that recorded 10 shutouts during the 2025 campaign and helped lead the Engineers to an 11-7-3 overall record and a berth in the NEWMAC Tournament semifinals. A fixture along the back line, she started all 21 matches and played every minute of the season for the second consecutive year, totaling 1,890 minutes while contributing an assist.
English is a three-time All-NEWMAC selection, including back-to-back First Team honors in 2024 and 2025. Her consistency and leadership have made her one of the conference's premier defenders while helping the Crimson and Gray remain among the NEWMAC's top defensive squads.
Beyond athletics and academics, English serves as the Life Enrichment Chair for Phi Sigma Sigma and is active with the Society of Women Engineers and the WPI Outing Club. Her community engagement includes work with Team IMPACT, tutoring students at Elm Park School, and assisting with soccer coaching clinics through Doca Futebol Academy.
