Zachary Besaw

Zach Besaw returns to Boynton Hill in 2025 as WPI’s Run Game Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach after spending five seasons at Worcester State University.

In 2024, Besaw served as Interim Head Coach for the Lancers, leading them to wins over Plymouth State, Fitchburg State, and Castleton. The victory over Plymouth was Worcester State’s first in the series since 2016.

Previously, Besaw was Worcester State’s Defensive Coordinator (2022–2023), where his units steadily improved and produced three All-MASCAC honorees. He also coached defensive backs and linebackers during his time with the Lancers.

During Besaw's tenure on Boynton Hill, he helped the Engineers to an overall 31-11 record, going 19-9 in conference play. The team made two Bowl Game appearances in 2019 and 2017. Besaw also coached at Worcester State University from 2020 through 2024, largely serving as the program's defensive coordinator with one season as the interim head coach in 2024.

The Shrewsbury native attended Worcester State where he both played and coached for Brien Cullen’s Lancers. In 2014 and 2015 served he as an assistant offensive line coach while graduating WSU with his bachelors of science in psychology this past May.

Besaw also boasts scholastic coaching experience assisting with the Worcester North High School offensive line in the 2012 season. While in attendance at Worcester State, he was a representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
