WORCESTER -- WPI men's rowing wrapped up its 2021 spring season by seeing its varsity eight best rival Coast Guard in racing on Lake Quinsigamond.
Rowing through a persistent crosswind from starboard with a moderate chop, the Engineers (6:18.5) went above and beyond fitness to best the Bears (6:22.5) by four seconds. The visitors earned a split on the day by taking the second varsity eight by just over 10 seconds (6:27.7 to 6:38.1).
The Crimson and Gray saw its varsity eight turn in a time of 6:14.5, nearly 15 seconds behind a strong Trinity boat (5:59.7), which lost a close race to Brown and defeated Holy Cross in a race featuring Division I boats on Saturday. The Bantams (6:21.4) also took the second varsity eight race over the Engineers (6:46.8) by just over 15 seconds.
The race with the Bears marks the end of the 2021 competition schedule for the Engineers. The fall 2021 racing schedule will be released this summer.
