WORCESTER --- The WPI women's swimming and diving team fell in its first dual meet of 2022 Wednesday night at the Sports and Recreation Center dropping a decision to Wheaton 193 to 99.
The Engineers picked up three first place finishes at the event, while taking home 16 top-three finishes.
Val Corrente (New York, NY) earned the title in the 1-meter dive with a score of 152.25 while also finishing second in the 3-Meter dive with a final score of 116.38.
On the swimming side of things, Molly Sykes (Falmouth, MA) took home a first place finish in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:17.46 while teammate Sarah MacDonald (Yorktown Heights, NY) took third in 2:21.48.
The 200 Free Relay team rounded out the meet with a win as Leah Kolb (Canton, MI), Kimberly Hazeltine (Stratham, NH), Sykes, and Katherine Pawlak (Westford, MA) touched in 1:40.30.
Keira Franz (Colorado Springs, CO) and Chonlada DiMascolo (Puyallup, WA) came across second and third in the 200 IM with times of 2:19.76 and 2:20.89, while Dimascolo finished third in the 200 Free (2:02.65).
Kolb finished second in both the 100 Back (1:00.88) and 200 Back (2:12.59) while MacDonald took second in the 100 Fly (1:01.77) and third in the 200 Fly (2:21.48).
Pawlak took second in the 50 Free (24.66) and third in the 100 Free (54.69).
For Wheaton, the Lyons started off with a 400 Medley Relay victory in 3:58.15 to start off the meet, followed by a 1000 Free victory for Mattie Lambert (Draper, UT). Lydia Dacorte (Mount Desert Island, ME) earned three wins on the day in the 200 Free, 500 Free and 200 IM, while Katie Walz (Bellevue, WA) also earned a trio of wins in the 50 Free, 100 Free and 100 Fly.
Reese Hartmann (Grand Rapids, MI) swept the backstroke competition with wins the 100 and 200 Back while Meghan Dickinson (North Kingstown, RI) swept the breaststroke events with victories in the 100 and 200 Breast.
The squad will be back in action next Tuesday, Jan. 25 when they head across town to face off against Clark at 6pm in a dual meet.
