WORCESTER -- The WPI men's rowing team began its 2024-25 season by seeing its varsity eight place fifth at a sunny Quinsigamond Snake Regatta on Saturday morning.
 
The Engineers top boat reached the finish line in the 24-boat collegiate eight in a time of 14:22.543, a fraction of a second behind Holy Cross' C entry (14:22.277).   Holy Cross A bettered two-time defending champion MIT by nearly seven seconds (13:43.764 to 13:50.658) to take gold while Holy Cross B was third with a time of 14:06.203.  WPI's second quickest boat reached the finish line in a time of 14:36.113 to take home eighth while the Crimson and Gray's third boat placed 16th (15:27.544) and fourth entry turned in 21st place showing (16:21.661).

WPI's novice eight made their debut with a time of 17:08.775 to finish third in a seven-boat matchup. 
 
Up next, the Crimson and Gray compete in the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday, October 22nd with an entry in the Collegiate Eight and another in the Collegiate Four.
