Foltz Delivers School Record at Day Two of NEWMAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship

Cambridge, MA --- Highlighted by a school record time in the 200 IM, the WPI women's swimming and diving team sits in 6th place, just a mere five points out of the top-5 with 201 points place after two full days of competition at the NEWMAC Championships at the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center. 
 
Morgan Foltz (North Easton, MA) took home top-finisher honors in the B Final of the 200 IM and in the process reset the school record for the event with a time of 2:08.93. Foltz' time bested Molly Sykes' 2018 time of 2:09.87 as she shaved nearly a second off to take ownership of the record books. 
 
Foltz started the night off as a part of the WPI 200 Free Relay squad, teaming up with Andrea Wu (Redmond, WA), Elinor Ross (Brandon, VT) and Leah Kolb (Canton, MI) to take fifth place in the event with a time of 1:36.70. 
 
Lada DiMascolo (Puyallup, WA), Katrina Waite (Falmouth, ME), Audrey Dino (St. Louis, MO) and Kristina MacLeod (Jackson Hole, WY) took part in the B Final of the event and came away with a second place finish in the B Final with a time of 1:39.66 to add to the point total 
 
DiMascolo and Herbstzuber continued on in the 500 Free finishing with ninth and 17th place finishes respectively. DiMascolo earned a 5:15.19 finish while Herbstzuber clocked in at 5:19.33, both earning points for the Engineers. 
 
Later, in the 50 Free, Wu took home a second place finish in the B Final (12th overall) with a time of 24.27 in the 50 Free followed by a 10th place performance from Katrina Yurista (Laramie, WY) to kick off the women's diving competition as she earned a spot in the finals finishing with a career best score of 424.40. 
 
The team closed out the night in the 400 Medley Relay as Kolb, Ross, Kaitlyn Grove (Cheshire, CT) and MacLeod came together for a 6th place, 4:02.17 finish, the season's best time in the event.

The Engineers move on to day three of the NEWMAC Championships on Saturday with prelim action kicking off at 10 a.m. and the finals starting at 6 p.m. The events on day three include the 400 IM, 100 Fly, 200 Free, 100 Breast, 100 Back, Men's 1-Meter Dive and conclude with the 200 Medley Relay.
