Submission of a credential request does not guarantee approval. All requests are reviewed by WPI Athletic Communications based on the nature and purpose of the coverage, available space, event operations and other applicable considerations.
Credentials are issued for the specific individual and event for which they are approved. Credentials are non-transferable and may not be used for another WPI Athletics event without additional approval.
Credential Eligibility
WPI Athletic Communications may issue credentials to individuals in the following categories:
Professional/Affiliated Media
Individuals representing recognized newspapers, television or radio stations, digital publications, websites or other established media organizations.
Student Media
Individuals representing recognized student newspapers, radio or television stations, journalism programs or other approved student media organizations.
Independent/Freelance Media & Content Creators
Photographers, videographers, writers, social media creators and other individuals who are not attending on behalf of an established media organization may request credentials. Approval will be determined on a case-by-case basis based on the purpose of the requested coverage and the individual's previous work or portfolio.
WPI Athletic Communications reserves the right to request additional information or examples of previous work before approving a credential.
Credential Access & Conduct
Approved credentials provide access only to areas designated by WPI Athletic Communications and/or event management.
Credentialed individuals must:
- Display their credential at all times while working the event.
- Remain in approved media, photography or videography areas.
- Follow all instructions provided by WPI Athletic Communications, event management, game officials and other authorized WPI personnel.
- Refrain from entering team benches, locker rooms, athletic training areas, playing surfaces or other restricted areas unless specifically authorized.
- Conduct themselves professionally and avoid interfering with student-athletes, coaches, officials, spectators or game operations.
- Follow all facility-specific and sport-specific safety requirements.
A credential does not provide unrestricted access to WPI Athletics facilities.
WPI Athletic Communications reserves the right to modify or revoke credentialed access at any time for failure to comply with these policies, safety concerns, event operations or inappropriate conduct.
Photography & Videography
Credentialed photographers and videographers must work from designated areas and follow all instructions from WPI Athletic Communications and event staff.
Individuals may not enter the field or court of play, team areas or other restricted locations without prior authorization.
The use of equipment may not obstruct spectators, interfere with competition or create a safety hazard.
Live video streaming, live audio broadcasts or other live transmission of WPI Athletics competitions are prohibited without prior authorization from WPI Athletic Communications.
Additional photography or videography restrictions may apply based on the sport, venue, championship regulations or broadcast agreements.
Content Usage
Media credentials are intended to facilitate legitimate editorial, journalistic, promotional or approved content coverage of WPI Athletics.
Approval of a credential does not transfer ownership of WPI trademarks, logos, broadcasts or other intellectual property, nor does it imply endorsement of the credential holder or their organization by WPI.
Commercial use, advertising, sponsorship activation, merchandise production or other uses beyond the approved purpose of coverage may require separate authorization from WPI.
Social Media
Credentialed individuals may publish approved event coverage on social media consistent with this policy.
Social media content should not falsely imply that the credential holder is an employee, representative or official partner of WPI unless such a relationship exists.
Credentialed media and content creators are encouraged to tag WPI Athletics when sharing coverage of WPI student-athletes and teams.
Credential access may not be used to create content that interferes with competition, team operations or the experience and safety of student-athletes, coaches, officials or spectators.
Interviews
All interview requests involving WPI student-athletes and coaches should be coordinated through WPI Athletic Communications.
Credentialed media should not enter locker rooms, team meeting spaces, athletic training areas or other restricted team areas to conduct interviews without authorization.
Postgame interview locations and availability may vary by sport and venue. WPI Athletic Communications will assist credentialed media with reasonable interview requests when possible.
Approval of a credential does not guarantee the availability of a particular student-athlete or coach for an interview.
Credential Distribution
Approved media members will receive instructions regarding credential pickup, parking, entry location and approved working areas when applicable.
Credentials must be visibly displayed while working at the event and may only be used by the individual to whom they were issued.
Credentials may not be transferred, shared or reproduced.
Approval for one WPI Athletics event does not guarantee approval for future events.

WPI Athletic Communications reserves the right to deny or revoke a credential when an individual:
- Violates this media policy or applicable facility/event policies;
- Enters restricted areas without authorization;
- Interferes with competition or event operations;
