Welcome Sammy Horowitz-WPI Athletic Training-2024-2025

Sammy Horowitz Joins WPI Athletic Training Staff

WORCESTER --- WPI Head Athletic Trainer Mike DeSavage announced the hiring of Sammy Horowitz as a full-time member of the athletic training staff ahead of the 2024-2025 academic year.

"I would like to welcome Sammy to the WPI Athletic Training Staff," stated DeSavage.

Prior to coming to Worcester, Horowitz served as an athletic training graduate fellow at Springfield College where she covered field hockey, women's basketball, and baseball. In addition to athletic training duties, Horowitz was a graduate mental performance coach where she created workshops to maximize performance of student-athletes on Springfield's men's and women's tennis and youth athletes who were a part of the HTC Field Hockey Club.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to be an Athletic Trainer here at WPI. I would like to thank Head Athletic Trainer Mike DeSavage for allowing me this opportunity to grow as an AT in a very supported environment and be a part of his staff," remarked Horowitz.

Horowitz attended Ithaca as an athletic training student where she logged experience covering the Bombers baseball, women's basketball, men's basketball,  and men's lacrosse programs.

"She is a fine addition to our team, and we are looking forward to seeing how she will benefit athletic care here at WPI and become an important part of our department," concluded DeSavage.

Horowitz also claimed duties as an athletic trainer for HTC Field Hockey indoor tournaments, Bay State Senior Games, Hooplandia and more in 2023.

"I would also like to thank the other members of the hiring committee Wendy Walsh, Rachel Kaliff and Sherra Dowling," added Horowitz. "I am looking forward to getting started and meeting all the student-athletes and coaches in the coming weeks."

The newest member of the WPI Athletic Training staff graduated from Ithaca with a bachelor's of science in athletic training and a minor in nutrition promotion in 2022 before adding a master's of education degree in sport and exercise psychology in 2024 from Springfield.
