Isabella Allen (Williamsville, NY) and sophomore
Angelina Holm (Denver, CO) combined for 25 kills and five blocks to help Babson defeat visiting WPI in four sets, 25-17, 25-11, 22-25, 25-17, in NEWMAC women's volleyball action on Tuesday night inside Staake Gymnasium.

Babson improves to 12-4 overall and 6-0 in conference action while the Crimson and Gray fall to 9-9 on the season and 2-4 in NEWMAC play.

Allen led all players with 13 kills to go along with two blocks, Holm finished with 12 kills, three blocks and two aces, and junior
Zoe Ackerman (Aurora, CO) dished out 42 assists for the Beavers. First-year
Misaki Harte (San Jose, Calif.) led all players with three aces and senior Sophia Shaw (Novato, Calif.) recorded a match-high 19 digs in the victory.

Anastasia Kelnik (Fair Lawn, NJ) totaled eight kills and four blocks, and first-year
Bridget Spees (Saint Johns, Fla.) contributed six kills, eight digs and two blocks to pace the Engineers. Fellow rookie
Lauren Boycourt (San Diego, CA) dished out 12 assists, first-year
Olivia Hutchinson (Erie, PA) led all players with six blocks and senior
Victoria Escuer (Caracas, Venezuela) chipped in with 12 digs and one ace in the loss.

The Green and White jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead and then used a 7-1 run after WPI had pulled within two to put the opening set out of reach. Allen registered a kill and combined on a block to make it 15-12, while Holm and sophomore
Sofia Ibarra (Coral Gables, Fla.) both provided a kill while combining on another block to give the Beavers' their largest advantage of the stanza at 21-13.

The hosts got kills from four different player, including three by Holm, and aces from Ackerman, Harte, and sophomore
Sabina Frosk (Coppell, TX) to race out to a 14-5 edge in game two. The Engineers cut their deficit to 15-9 on consecutive blocks by Kelnik only to see Babson respond by scoring seven of the next eight points to stretch the lead to 22-10 on another ace by Harte.

Down by as many as three early in the third set, WPI hit .296, took advantage of 10 errors by the Beavers and went on a 12-4 run to go in front 19-14. The Green and White got as close as two then made two straight errors, which was followed by a kill and a block by Hutchison that pushed the margin to 23-17 on the way to extending the match.Â

Babson was in control in the fourth recording 15 kills and hitting .385 as a team. Up 11-9 early in the stanza, junior
Allison Molendyk (Danville, CaA) recorded four kills in the span of six points to give the Green and White a six-point lead that would get no closer than four the rest of the way.

Both squads hit the road for NEWMAC road matches on Saturday. WPI ventures east to Boston to square off with Emerson at 11am while Babson heads west to South Hadley to tangle with Mount Holyoke at 1pm.
