WORCESTER -- The WPI women's swimming and diving team vaulted up to seventh place after a solid day two of the 2025 NEWMAC Swimming and Diving Championships at the WPI Sports & Recreation Center.

Leading the way for the Engineers, senior
Lada DiMascolo (Puyallup, WA) broke the school record in the 200 IM. DiMascolo posted a time of 2:08.79 to place sixth overall, surpassing the previous record of 2:08.93 (
Morgan Foltz, 2024).

As a team, the Engineers have 157 total points and are just three points out of fifth place. MIT leads the event with 615 points, followed by Springfield (278), Wheaton (266), and Coast Guard (265). Wellesley (160), Babson (159), and Smith (155) are closely grouped behind, while Mount Holyoke (108) and Clark (100) round out the field.

The women's 200 Free Relay started the scoring for WPI, where the 'A' team of senior

Katrina Waite (Falmouth, ME), freshman
Sarah Kang (Richmond, VA), and senior
Kristina MacLeod (Jackson Hole, WY) placed fifth in the A final with a time of 1:37.62. The 'B' team of junior
Rachel Tsang (Acton, MA), senior
Leah Kolb (Canton, MI), senior
Anna Callaghan (St. Louis, MO), and senior
Audrey Dino (St. Louis, MO) followed with a 12th-place finish in the B final at 1:40.08.

In the women's 500 Free, freshman
Kate Creusere (Las Cruces, NM) led the Engineers with a 14th-place finish, touching the wall in 5:16.52. MacLeod later highlighted the women's 50 Free with a 14th-place finish in the A final, clocking in at 24.57.

On the boards, junior
Katrina Yurista (Laramie, WY) secured seventh place in the 1-meter dive, scoring 413.20 points in the A final.

Closing out the evening, the women's 400 Medley Relay saw the Engineers' 'A' team of senior Kolb, freshman
Milena Whitney (Bedford, NH), Kang, and DiMascolo record a seventh-place finish in the A final with a time of 3:59.24. The 'B' team, consisting of junior Tsang, junior
Kylie Herbstzuber (Medfield, MA), freshman
Veronica Finucane-Tuccio (Excelsior, MN), and Waite, secured 16th place in the B final with a 4:07.86 finish.
Competition resumes Saturday with a full slate of events, including the 400 IM, 100 Fly, 200 Free, 100 Breast, 100 Back, Men's 1-Meter Diving, and the 200 Medley Relay.
