WORCESTER -- The 10th-ranked WPI men's rowing team entertained top-ranked Trinity, Maritta (OH) and Colby, who are tied for sixth, and No. 8 Ithaca in the Rumley Cup Saturday morning on Lake Quinsigamond.

In the Varsity Eight, WPI finished fourth in a highly competitive field with a time of 6:31.56. Trinity captured the Remley Cup with a winning time of 6:11.60, followed by Colby (6:25.25) and Marietta (6:28.96). The Engineers held off Ithaca (6:36.66) to round out the five-boat race.
The Second Varsity Eight saw WPI place fifth with a time of 7:02.72. Trinity again led the way in 6:30.80, followed by Marietta (6:34.03), Colby (6:44.17), and Ithaca (6:48.29).
In the Third Varsity Eight, WPI's 3V posted a time of 7:06.11 to take fourth place, while the 4V crossed in 7:27.29 for fifth. Trinity's 3V led the race in 6:42.30, with Colby 3V (6:55.57) and Trinity 4V (6:58.46) finishing just ahead of the Engineers.
WPI's Fourth Varsity Eight returned to the water later in the morning, placing second in their race with a time of 8:08.24. Ithaca claimed the win in 7:42.43, while Colby followed close behind WPI at 8:12.05.
The Engineers are back on Lake Quinsigamond Sunday morning, hosting Tufts, Marietta, and Connecticut College. Racing begins at 8:30am, with the Bernie Brown Cup up for grabs between WPI and Tufts.Â
The Crimson and Gray compete again tomorrow hosting No. 4 Tufts for the Baker Cup along with sixth-ranked Marietta (OH). The Easer Sunday regatta kicks off with Varsity Eight at 8:30am.
