Attleboro, MA -- The WPI women's cross country team opened the 2025 season with a sixth-place team finish at the Suffolk Short Course Classic on Saturday morning.
Freshman Kayleigh Carnazza (Virginia Beach, VA) paced the Engineers over the 3K layout at the Mark Coogan Cross Country Course, finishing in 12:24.47 to place 50th overall. Senior Sophia Reynolds (Andover, NH) was close behind in 52nd with a time of 12:28.90.
A trio of runners crossed within two seconds of each other, Sabrina Cady (Lowell, MA) was 64th in 12:39.89, senior Bethany Brown (Allentown, PA) placed 52nd in 12:40.77, and junior Grace Connell (Far Hills, NJ)finished 68th in 12:41.12.
Rounding out the Engineers were Catherine Daly (Groton, MA) crossed the line at 12:54.02, Beth Irwin (Guilderland, NY) logged a 13:17.72 time and Emma Conway (Suffield, CT) who crossed the line in 13:42.24.
The overall individual crown went to Ruth White of NCAA Division I New Hampshire in 10:59.42, while Northeastern claimed the team title with 30 points.
WPI returns to action in a few weeks for the Wesleyan Cardinal Invitational on Saturday, September 20th, scheduled for an 11am start.
