Attleboro, MA -- The WPI men's cross country team opened the 2025 season with a third-place showing at the Suffolk Short Course Classic on Saturday morning.
Senior Everett Mosher (Chester, VT) made his cross country debut in stellar fashion as he led the Engineers, recently ranked third in the USTFCCCA Division III East Region rankings, on the 5K course at the Mark Coogan Cross Country Course, finishing fourth overall in a time of 15:42.19. Sophomore Drew O'Reilly (Syracuse, NY) was close behind, securing sixth place in 15:48.34.
Senior Brinson Wyche (Corvallis, MT) crossed the finish line next for the Crimson and Gray in 16:10.92 for 18th, followed by senior Thomas Skerry (Dedham, MA) in 16:16.68 for 20th overall. Sophomore Jackson Sobelman (Redding, CT) rounded out the scoring five with a 21st-place finish in 16:20.51.
Also competing for WPI were sophomore Colin Britner (Hampton, CT), who ran 16:24.91 for 24th, and freshman Henry Jacobsen (Bolton, MA), who clocked 16:30.65 to finish 32nd. Freshman Giuseppe Villani (Shrewsbury, MA) (43rd – 16:40.43) and junior Ryan Coceano (Cinnaminson, NJ) (51st – 17:02.81) rounded out the Crimson and Gray lineup.
NCAA Division I Holy Cross swept the top three spots individually, led by race winner Liam Lyons in 15:15.09, and captured the team title with 26 points. New Hampshire was second with 52, while WPI earned the final podium spot with 67 points. WPI claimed the highest team finish among NCAA Division III programs.
The Engineers return to competition on Saturday, September 20, at the Wesleyan Cardinal Invitational in Middletown, CT. The race is scheduled for 11am.
