Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Weather Wins as Men's Soccer and RPI Draw in Game Shorted Due to Thunderstorm

WORCESTER -- WPI men's soccer's Savio Ketnouvong (Paxton, MA) extended his shutout streak to over 251 minutes, as he recorded his third-straight clean sheet in a 0-0 tie against RPI at H.Carr Field at Alumni Stadium.

WPI goes to 2-0-1 on the year as RPI moves to 1-0-2.

Rensselaer was the more aggressive team from the opening whistle, as they first two shots of the game, but Ketnouvong stopped both attempts. The home fans would have to wait until the 40th minute to see a shot on goal, where Noah Amorim (Weymouth, MA) had his shot saved by Noah Churchill (Fort Mill, SC), sending the game into the intermission, scoreless.

Early in the second half, RPI had an excellent scoring opportunity, where Owen Filler (Belmont, MA) sent a free kick from 40 yards out into the box. Noah Gregory (Baltimore, MD) got a head on the ball for RPI, driving it towards the net, where Ketnouvong made a diving save to his left, keeping the game scoreless. The game would eventually end due to severe weather in the Worcester area in the 72nd minute.

Ketnouvong now sits at 2-0-1 with a third-straight shutout after making four stops, while Noah Churchill only needed to make one stop. RPI outshot the hosts 7-4, while also having the only corner kick of the day in the second half.

WPI will return to action on Tuesday to take on Dean at 3:30pm, while RPi takes the trek to Keene State on Wednesday at 6:30pm.
