Cambridge, MA --- The WPI men's swimming and diving team capped the 2026 NEWMAC Swimming and Diving Championships with a third-place finish Sunday at MIT's Zesiger Center Pool.
WPI totaled 731 points to secure third overall. MIT claimed the team title with 1481.5 points, followed by Coast Guard with 1013. Babson finished fourth with 692, Wheaton fifth with 625, Springfield sixth with 466.5, and Clark seventh with 219.
The Engineers opened the final day with a podium finish in the 1650-yard freestyle. Freshman
Lucas Brown (Viera, FL) placed third overall in 16:19.23, while senior
Samuel Witscher (Portland, OR) added an eighth-place finish in 16:57.50.
In the 100-yard freestyle, junior
Sean Tesoro (Reading, MA) led WPI with a sixth-place finish in 45.80. Junior
Dean Doubek (Arnold, MD) tied for ninth in 46.09, and junior
Nolan Schlessman (Sudbury, MA) placed 18th in 46.60. Sophomore
Angelo Reade (Newburgh, NY) finished 22nd in 46.89, sophomore
Angad Ahluwalia (Attleboro, MA) was 23rd in 47.02, freshman
Kuba Latawiec (Newington, CT) took 25th in 47.33, senior
Gavin McCullough (Colorado Springs, CO) finished 26th in 47.42, and sophomore
Nick Braun (Portland, OR) placed 31st in 48.34.
WPI added three scorers in the 200-yard butterfly. Junior
Lucas Pralle (Wayland, MA) led the group with a 14th-place finish in 1:58.57, freshman
Michael Webb (Medway, MA) placed 16th in 1:59.31, and freshman
Deion Chung (Honolulu, HI) finished 18th in 2:00.33.
The championship concluded with the 400-yard freestyle relay. The 'A' team of Doubek, Schlessman, Reade, and Tesoro placed fifth in 3:04.70, while the 'B' quartet of McCullough, Latawiec, Ahluwalia, and sophomore
Keegan Rowe (Harpswell, ME) finished 12th in 3:07.27.
