Men’s Rowing Earns Pair of Victories at National Invitational Rowing Championship

Varsity Eight
WORCESTER -- The WPI men's rowing team wrapped up competition Sunday at the National Invitational Rowing Championship on Lake Quinsigamond with multiple victories and strong finishes against a nationally competitive Division III field.
 
The Engineers were victorious in both the men's four petite final and the third varsity eight petite final while adding runner-up finishes in the second varsity eight and varsity eight petite finals.
 
WPI opened the morning session against nationally-ranked varsity eight competition. The varsity eight placed fourth in its heat in 6:42.010 behind No. 2 Wesleyan, No. 3 Williams and No. 7 Bates.
 
During the afternoon session, the Engineers captured the men's four petite final in 8:18.853, defeating Rochester B, Coast Guard, Conn College and UNH B. WPI also claimed the third varsity eight petite final with a winning time of 7:15.079.
 
The second varsity eight added a second-place finish in the petite final, clocking a 6:54.378 behind Coast Guard. In the varsity eight petite final, WPI narrowly missed the victory, finishing second in 6:31.242, just .584 seconds behind Hamilton. Coast Guard, Vassar, Skidmore and UNH rounded out the field. 
 
The National Invitational Rowing Championships marks the end of the 2025-26 campaign for the Engineers.  The Crimson and Gray will return to train in late August and will compete in the fall season which features the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta, the historic Head of the Charles Regatta and the Wormtown Chase Regatta in October.
